From S3 Jus In Bello. Probably not particularly spoilery.
Normally, Dean's cultural allusions go whizzing over my head. I've never seen The Shining
(which he mentions at least once an episode), or most of the other movies he references, so I usually am in there with Castiel in just totally not getting it. But this one...this one I started thinking before Dean spoke. And then, of course, he says it out loud. And this was my mental image of the scene...
I loved Jus In Bello, as long as I can pretend the last five minutes didn't happen.
This was a series of sketches--I tried to limit to 10 minutes each--then put together with Gimp. I also recycled one or two way older sketches here because after I scanned them I realized I didn't actually have the whole sequence. At first, I had a flash version, but it doesn't seem to load in DA (it's in my scraps). So this is here instead. This isn't how I envisioned it, but oh well.
Short-haired non-bald guy supposed to be Dean, longer-haired disapproving guy Sam, bald/bearded guy Hendrickson.Edit:
I should have realized that if I got the joke in this one, it's probably pretty obscure to the rest of the audience. Here's a link to a clip of the scene on YouTube
, and here's a link to the song that Dean is referencing (also YouTube)
. I love (a) how long Dean pauses before he actually says anything, and (b) Sam's concentrated glare.
Drawing SPN fanart is addictive--if you don't believe me, give it a try. The rest of my SPN fanart is here
.I don't own this scene or these characters--the rights belong to Eric Kripke and the CW. And Bob Marley belongs to himself.
